Destination Himmerland is the official destination management organisation for the municipalities of Mariagerfjord and Vesthimmerland and is responsible for the development and marketing of tourism in Himmerland.

Our role is to strengthen Himmerland as a destination and create value for the tourism industry, local communities, and visitors to the area. We do this through destination development, marketing, visitor services, data and insights, and collaboration with local tourism businesses and public-sector partners.

In the development of tourism, we focus on creating a balanced approach that supports attractive visitor experiences, a strong local tourism industry, and consideration for the places, natural and cultural assets, and local communities that tourism is part of.

As part of this work, we support tourism businesses in integrating sustainability into their product and business development. We do this through knowledge sharing, skills development, professional advisory services, and by highlighting practical opportunities to incorporate environmental, social, and economic considerations into the development of their businesses and visitor experiences.

This work is carried out in close collaboration with Destination Himmerland’s private and public partners, municipalities, organisations, and other stakeholders who contribute to the development of tourism in Himmerland.
